Located on the Hongshui River in the land of Bagui(known as Guangxi), hydropower stations operated by China Datang are powering Guangxi with green electricity. Green Pioneer in Guangxi-Guiguan Electric Power

Guangxi Guiguan Electric Power Co., Ltd. ("Guiguan Electric Power", stock code 600236), a subsidiary company of China Datang, was established in September 1992. It is the country's first company to raise funds by going pubic in Shanghai Stock Exchanges in March,2000, to build large and medium-sized hydropower stations. It is the largest listed company in terms of market value and the power generation company with the largest installed capacity in Guangxi. As of the end of 2022, the company’s total installed capacity reached 12.54GW, including 10.2GW of hydropower, 1.3GW of thermal power, 766MW of wind power, and 219MW of PV power, with clean energy accounting for 89.39%. The annual green power generation was amount to the equivalent of saving 12 million tons of standard coal.

China Datang has actively engaged in the high-quality development of clean energy in Guangxi by increasing hydro, wind and solar power generation.It has successfully explored new energy application scenarios such as floating PV project on the water surface, agricultural light complementary PV power plant, ash field PV power station and airport-based PV application. Over the past 31 years, Guiguan Electric Power's installed capacity has increased from 192MW to 12,542MW, and its business has developed from a single hydropower to a multi-energy hybrid of hydropower, thermal power, wind power, solar power and energy storage. As of the end of May 2023, the cumulative power generation exceeded 745.396 billion kWhs. The green electricity supplied is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by 250 million tons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 671 million tons. It is equivalent to planting 1.8312 million hectares of broad-leaved forest. Suppose one tree absorbs 18.3 kilograms of carbon dioxide every year, which is equivalent to planting 36.523 billion trees.

China Datang is also actively involved in green power trading. In the recent two years, , Guiguan Power has successfully sellling 153 million kWhs of green power in Guangxi Electric Power Trading Center, which provided users with 153,743 green power consumption certificates.

Living off the mountains and rivers-Economic Benefits

Longtan Hydropower Station, Yantan Hydropower Station, Dahua Hydropower Station, Letan Hydropower Station, Pingban Hydropower Station...China Datang’s hydropower stations spread across Guangxi, like pearls decorated the land of Bagui. Longtan reservoir and Yantan reservoir, located in the Hongshui River in Hechi City, Guangxi, are the main water bodies of the national surface water quality assessment, ranked 11th in the national assessment from January to March 2023, showcased that the ecological protection work has achieved good results .

In recent years,taking both power production and environmental protection into account, China Datang has strengthened the environmental governance of the reservoir area and waterway, thus realizing ecological breeding, industrial transformation, wellness travel and green development in the reservoir area, recreating the scenery of rippling blue waves with egrets flying over. Thanks to the surface water quality of Longtan Reservoir and Yantan Reservoir remaining at the national forefront, the Dahua Yantan scenic spot located in the Yantan Reservoir area was awarded the "Second Batch of National AAAA-level Tourist Attractions in 2022",and Dahua County's Hongshui River-ASEAN International Fishing Base was awarded the "Second Batch of Guangxi Five-Star Rural Tourism Areas in 2022", which directly support the local economy.

 Dancing and Singing in the Green-Biodiversity 

China Datang actively takes practical actions to protect local biodiversity and maintain the stability and health of the ecosystem by making contribution to rare and endemic fish releasing, Longtan Rare Wild Plant Conservation Park, Xijin National Wetland Park.

The rare and endemic fish breeding station in the middle reaches of the Hongshui River (Yantan-Letan) serves as an important project of China Datang to guard the biodiversity of the Hongshui River Basin. In recent years, China Datang has continuously carried out artificial freshwater fish enhancement and releasing in Guangxi, resulting in a total of about 5 million fish released.  

In addition to the fish breeding and releasing center station, China Datang have built 8 rare wild plants protection gardens covering an area of 6,000 square meters in Longtan Hydropower Station, with 4,578 rare plants of more than ten species being relocated and protected. Among them, a 240-years-old red bean tree, the national second-class protected tree species, has been transplanted for protection, as well as other rare trees such as red toon and Rendou tree.

Fish releasing activity

Clear water, green banks, and birds flying. Xijin National Wetland Park, located in the upper reaches of Xijin Power Plant, with a wetland rate of 87.41%, is one of the largest artificial wetlands in South China, attracting a large number of migratory birds to stop here for the winter due to its harmonious and livable conditions and suitable living environment, and providing a comfortable habitat for many endangered plants and animals. Nowadays, the number of rare plants and animals in the reservoir area of each hydroelectric power station of China Datang in Guangxi is constantly setting new records. Herons, Hainan tiger-spotted flycatchers, and Chinese Autumn Sand Ducks, which are known as "giant pandas among birds", are frequently appearing.
