Also present at the meeting were Li Jianwei, Vice President of China Datang, Meas Chanthyda, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia, and Suy Bunlay, First Secretary of Royal Embassy of Cambodia in China.

During the talks, Zou warmly welcomed Paris and the delegation he led to China Datang and expressed gratitude to the Cambodian government for their long-term care and support of China Datang's enterprises in Cambodia.

He emphasized the close geographical and cultural ties between China and Cambodia, as well as the strong political mutual trust they have maintained, adding that since entering the new era, China and Cambodia have enjoyed close communication and sound cooperation in various fields within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI).

President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Hun Manet met twice last year, outlining a vision for a shared future of China-Cambodia community. Cambodia's stable political environment and favorable business conditions make it a key investment and development destination for China Datang in Southeast Asia, Zou said.

With the experience gained throughout the existing projects, China Datang is committed to enhancing its investment of new energy in Cambodia, supporting Cambodia's transition to a greener and low-carbon economy, while fostering a China-Cambodia community with a shared future. This will help address Cambodia's energy and power shortages.

Zou expressed the hope that the Cambodian government can create favorable conditions for Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Cambodia, to promote economic and social development in Cambodia and contribute to the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.

Paris expressed his gratitude to China Datang for its support and assistance in Cambodia's power development.

He highlighted the long-standing friendship between Cambodia and China and the fruitful results of their cooperation. Chinese-funded enterprises, including China Datang, have played a significant role in Cambodia's economic growth in recent years.

The power infrastructure invested by China Datang, such as the Phnom Penh-Pursat-Battambang 230 kV power transmission and transformation project and the Stung Atay Hydropower project, has not only provided clean electricity but also created opportunities for economic development.

China-proposed BRI aligns well with Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy, and the energy cooperation between Cambodia and China holds promising prospects, given Cambodia's abundant wind and solar resources, Paris noted.

Emphasizing that the Cambodian government actively supports the expansion of investment and development in clean energy, Paris expressed the hope for further communication and exchange between the two parties, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in areas such as clean energy and carbon asset management, so as to contribute to Cambodia's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Other executives from relevant departments of China Datang also attended the meeting.
