Intelligent Cleaning Robots Begin Operations at China Datang’s Buka PV Project
Two newly installed intelligent PV module cleaning robots completed on-site commissioning at the Buka PV project and officially began routine operation and maintenance (O&M) work on August 17.

The deployment of the advanced equipment marks an accelerated transition of the PV plant toward a modern O&M model featuring reduced staffing and greater intelligence, setting a new benchmark for smart operations at renewable energy facilities.
The Buka PV site features complex terrain and is frequently affected by sand and dust during spring and summer, resulting in significant dust accumulation on PV modules. Traditional manual cleaning is labor-intensive and involves considerable safety risks associated with outdoor operations, while also making it difficult to ensure cleaning frequency and standardized operating procedures. Dust accumulation on PV modules directly reduces photovoltaic conversion efficiency, limiting the plant’s power generation performance.
To address this O&M bottleneck, the project team has introduced all-terrain, all-weather intelligent cleaning and handling robots, leveraging technology to comprehensively improve the efficiency and quality of O&M operations.
Going forward, the Buka PV project will continue to advance the development of a smart power plant and further expand the application of intelligent equipment in renewable energy O&M scenarios.
By using data to drive decision-making and technology to reduce costs and enhance efficiency, the project will contribute further to the stable supply of green, clean electricity and support the energy transition.
