China Datang's First 9H-class Gas-fired Power Plant Achieves Full-capacity Operation

2026-07-10

Unit 2 of the Datang Jinhua Natural Gas Power Project successfully completed a 168-hour full-load trial run on July 6, marking the full-capacity commercial operation of China Datang's first 9H-class gas-fired power plant.

The milestone delivers a powerful green boost to electricity security and stability across Zhejiang Province and the wider East China region.

The project installs two sets of the world's most advanced and efficient 9H-class combined-cycle generating units, with a combined installed capacity of 1.496 million kilowatts. Once both units are fully operational, the plant is expected to generate approximately 3 billion kWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the annual power needs of 3.8 million residents.

Built on a strong innovation-driven foundation, the project combines the distinct advantages of rapid response, low energy consumption and strong environmental performance, with annual carbon-dioxide reductions of approximately 1.22 million tonnes.

Following full commissioning, the facility will fully leverage the rapid start-stop and strong peaking capabilities of its 9H-class units to significantly enhance power-supply reliability during peak summer demand, providing robust energy support for the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
