Cambodia's First Hydropower-Grid Integrated Centralized Control Project Passes NCC Acceptance Inspection
On May 13, 2026, the first centralized control project integrating five stations (three substations and two hydropower plants) has successfully passed the on-site acceptance inspection by Cambodia's National Control Centre (NCC). The project was constructed by Cambodia Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. and Cambodia Power Grid Co., Ltd., two subsidiaries of China Datang in Cambodia.
The milestone marks China Datang’s entry into a new stage of centralized and intelligent development in hydropower and grid operation management in Cambodia.
The acceptance covered the Pursat, Battambang and Kampong Chhnang substations, as well as the upper plant and the lower plant of the Stung Atay Hydroelectric Power plant. Test results showed that the system operated stably, transmitted data accurately and delivered reliable remote-control functions, fully meeting the acceptance criteria.
Once commissioned, the project will enable remote centralized control and coordinated dispatch across the five sites, significantly improving operational efficiency and grid safety. It is also expected to provide a replicable model for Cambodia’s smart grid development.
