China Datang's Buka Solar PV Project in Uzbekistan Creates Green Model of Integrated Solar Power Generation and Ecological Restoration
As a landmark clean energy project of China-Uzbekistan cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, China Datang's Buka Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project in Uzbekistan prioritizes ecological protection and adheres to green development.
Through comprehensive ecological restoration efforts, the project has transformed 350 hectares of sandy and rocky areas into contiguous greenery, achieving a vegetation coverage rate of more than 60 percent within the project site.
By delivering tangible ecological restoration results, the project has found a green development path that integrates stable clean energy supply, desert ecosystem restoration, and sustained improvement of the local environment, becoming a role model of ecologically friendly development among overseas renewable energy projects.
The project's ecological practices align closely with Uzbekistan's policies on green development. While efficiently ensuring electricity supply to the Tashkent region and supporting the country's green energy transition, the project also provides tangible ecological benefits to local communities, earning widespread recognition from both the Uzbek government and the people.
As a flagship project of China-Uzbekistan green energy cooperation, the Buka Solar PV plant contributes to China Datang's commitment to its carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and fulfills the company's corporate social responsibility overseas through pragmatic actions.
It fully demonstrates Chinese enterprises' sense of responsibility and respect for nature, commitment to ecological protection, and dedication to high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, while providing replicable and scalable experience in ecological restoration and sustainable development for international renewable energy projects.
