2. China Datang's Annual Coal Production Surpasses 30 Mln Tonnes
In 2024, coal mines operated by China Datang enjoyed safe, efficient production throughout the year, achieving an annual coal production milestone of over 30 million tonnes.
The steady operations and profitability of these coal production projects have strengthened the fuel supply for China Datang's thermal power and coal chemical projects.
3. World's First 500 MW High-Head Impulse Turbine Demonstration Project Enters Critical Stage
The Datang Zala Hydropower Station in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, the world's first 500 MW high-head impulse turbine demonstration project, entered a critical stage for the construction of its main structure in 2024.
During the development of the project, China Datang has collaborated with industry partners to overcome critical technical challenges, achieving a series of breakthroughs in the independent development of key equipment. These advancements mark a significant leap forward in energy equipment manufacturing, not only for China but also on a global scale.
4. China Datang's 'Circle of Friends' Along Belt and Road Extends to Africa
On September 6, 2024, China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ZESCO Limited in the witness of China Datang Chairman Zou Lei and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema. The MoU marks China Datang's first project in Africa, with plans to develop 220 MW new energy projects in Zambia.
With an aim to promote cooperation and development through international exchanges, China Datang actively engaged in meetings with heads of state, attended international events, and provided training for foreign personnel in 2024.
On Dec. 10, 2024, the Silk Road Energy Joint Technology Innovation R&D Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of China Datang, was officially inaugurated and kicked off its first training session for key Uzbek management and technical personnel in the country's energy sector.
5. World's Highest Wind Farm Fully Connected to Grid
On October 31, 2024, the Datang Baxoi Wind Power Project, the world's highest wind farm at an altitude of 5,200 meters in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, was fully connected to China's state grid.
With a total installed capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) and 20 wind turbines, the project was completed within the same year of its commencement, setting a world record for high-altitude wind power development.
6. China Datang's 2 GW New Energy Project Connected to Grid at Full Capacity
China Datang's new energy project in Tuoketuo county, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a total installed capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW), was connected to the country's state grid at full capacity on September 30, 2024.
The project, also a part of Tuoketuo "wind-solar-thermal-storage" multi-energy complementary comprehensive energy base, is among the first large-scale wind and solar power bases in desert areas planned by China's National Energy Administration. It is also the country's first multi-energy complementary project to utilize existing thermal power transmission channels for bundled renewable energy delivery.
The project produces over 4.1 billion kWh of green electricity annually, contributing to the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals of China's capital city Beijing.
7. China Datang Puts into Service China's First 100 MW Sodium-ion Energy Storage Station
On June 30, 2024, the phase Ⅰ project of the Datang Hubei 100 MW/200 MWh sodium-ion new energy storage power station sci-tech innovation demonstration project, China's first 100 MWh sodium-ion energy storage project, developed by China Datang, was put into service in central China's Hubei Province.
This marked the world's first large-scale commercial application of sodium-ion storage technology. Utilizing 100 percent domestically developed core equipment, the project has set a model for the industry.
