China Datang Corporation Ltd. (China Datang) has made a donation of 10 million yuan ($1.44 million) to support rescue and relief work in Luding county, Sichuan province, following a 6.8-magnitude earthquake.

The earthquake, which hit Moxi township, Luding county of Sichuan province on Sept. 5, has caused heavy casualties and property losses.

China Datang has quickly mobilized personnel and resources to join the rescue and relief work. Changheba, Huangjinping and Tingzikou power stations urgently turned on six standby units with capacity of 2,175 MW, effectively ensuring power supply to the disaster area; overnight raised more than 150,000 yuan of emergency supplies such as shovels, tents, gasoline generators and lights, and transported to a temporary resettlement site in Detuo township; dispatched assault boats to rescue more than 700 trapped people.
