Embark on the Journey

On November 11, six foreign employees from Indonesia and Cambodia embarked on the "China Tour," a journey of learning and exploration, starting from the headquarters of China Datang. During their ten-plus-day itinerary, they gained firsthand insights into the industrial layout, business scope, and deep cultural heritage of China Datang. They participated in on-site exchanges to learn about advanced technologies and management concepts related to green development, intelligent transformation, and other areas. Furthermore, they experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture up close, acting as ambassadors to convey to the world the remarkable achievements and the open, inclusive development philosophy of Chinese enterprises.

Stunning Intelligent Technologies

The first stop for the international employees leaving Beijing was the 114-year-old Nanjing Power Plant of China Datang. They were deeply captivated by a huge LCD screen on the wall of the intelligent power plant.

“The control room is like the brain of an intelligent power plant. It is connected to the intelligent monitoring system of the Nanjing Power Plant, enabling functions such as intelligent inspection, automatic coal transportation, smart combustion, fault diagnosis, and operational adjustment,” explained a technical expert from the plant. The employees had the opportunity to interact with the system by clicking mouse buttons to view the real-time dynamic map of the three-dimensional power plant, experiencing firsthand the powerful capabilities of the intelligent inspection robot visualization platform. They all expressed that the advanced technology they had never seen before.

Hasmunir, the production director of PT DDPI Kendari Power Plant, came with questions in mind. He had identified four major challenges commonly faced in Indonesian power operations: low levels of automation, difficulty in precise regulation, challenges in position coordination, and significant fluctuations in steam quality. At the Nanjing Power Plant, he received satisfactory answers. He remarked, “Before coming to China, I had heard that power plants in China are highly intelligent and low labor intensity. This visit to the Nanjing Power Plant has truly proven that seeing is believing. The efficient management, intelligent monitoring, and automated operation and maintenance of Datang’s intelligent power plant are truly impressive.”

Subsequently, the foreign employees visited Datang Suzhou Thermal Power Plant, home to China Datang's first self-built gas turbine and the group’s initial batch of whole-county distributed rooftop photovoltaics. At the gas turbine power plant, they were impressed by the clean, tidy, and spotless environment. When they learned that the gas turbine power plant was just a month away from achieving "zero non-stop" operation for five consecutive years, Napolin Siregar, the operations engineer from PT DDPI Kalteng Plant, expressed disbelief and meticulously recorded the details of the simulation training process and principles.

Additionally, the foreign employees visited the Lyusigang Power Plant and China Datang's first offshore wind power project. Standing on the coast of the Yellow Sea and observing the majestic offshore wind turbines delivering a continuous stream of renewable energy to the onshore economic development zone, Erwin Yuliandri, the technical director of PT DDPI Sumsel Plant, said, “If only my hometown could have such a wind farm!”

Mutually Beneficial Technical Exchanges

This "China Tour" is not only a journey of learning but also a collision of technical ideas. The international employees engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with relevant project leaders, technical experts, and others regarding the development trends, technological innovations, market expansion, and various aspects of the power industry both in China and abroad.

At Suzhou Thermal Power Plant, Ridwan, the deputy director of the Operation Department at PT Meulaboh Power Generation in Indonesia, expressed curiosity about the company's impressive achievement of "zero non-stop" operation for five consecutive years. He inquired in detail about how this was accomplished and found the answer on a tablet equipped with an electronic operation ticket system. This system integrates functions such as QR code recognition, image recording, audio recording, registration, and backfilling, fundamentally eliminating errors such as entering incorrect intervals, skipping items, or missing tasks. Ridwan referred to it as the "Nemesis of illegal operations."

At Lyusigang Power Generation Plant, the international employees were amazed by the company's remarkable achievements in power construction history, including "three units put into operation within one month" and "four units put into operation within one season." They sought detailed explanations about how the company achieved these fruitful results through refined management practices.

During their visit to new energy equipment manufacturing companies, the international employees were particularly impressed by the level of manufacturing in China. In the production workshop of Suzhou Canadian Solar Power Inc.. They observed that the entire production process had been nearly automated, with unmanned manufacturing and assembly. High-purity polycrystalline silicon underwent a series of processes, ultimately being manufactured and assembled into photovoltaic panels. Khiev Vannob, an electrical maintenance worker from Cambodia Hydropower Development Co., expressed his admiration, asking, "How many production lines do you have like this? What is your annual production of photovoltaic modules?" Upon learning that the plant had a total of 21 production lines and an annual output of 18 million kilowatt-hours of photovoltaic modules, he praised China's manufacturing capabilities as being far ahead of others.

Friendly Cultural Experience

During the trip, the international employees also visited the corporate culture exhibition hall and the "Shu Zhi Lyu" production dispatching center(featured by intelligent and green) at China Datang's headquarters. Vivid displays illustrated the historical journey of China Datang, showcasing its evolution from challenging beginnings to rapid growth, development, and its aspirations for world-class power supplier. The employees had the opportunity to closely experience China Datang's corporate culture and the operational achievements enabled by "Shu Zhi Lyu."

"You must study hard and come to China like father in the future," Ridwan would often tell his baby during video calls at each stop of the trip. During the exchanges event, Napolin sang "Wonderful Tonight" in his resonant bass voice, earning warm applause from his Chinese colleagues. Mey Vila, a Cambodian employee, performed her adapted Chinese song "The Path of Light," expressing gratitude to China Datang for bringing light to the Cambodian people.

The "China Tour" allowed international employees to witness China's rapid development and rich cultural heritage firsthand. They gained a deeper understanding of China Datang and felt a strong sense of belonging and pride, boosting their confidence in their work. Many expressed their intention to carry the positive impressions of China back home, working together to pursue excellence and create a brighter future.

The representatives from China Datang noted that this tour for international employees was an important initiative for high-quality collaboration in building the "Belt and Road" and promoting "Mutual Respect." Upholding the philosophy of "embracing and gathering talent from around the world," China Datang aims to continue developing its brand of "Together for Excellence, Together for a Shared Future." The company will deepen its talent strategy both internationally and locally, foster cultural exchanges, and strive for mutual benefit and common development. China Datang will continue to focus on the Southeast Asian market while actively expanding into Central Asia, Africa, and South America, steadfastly pursuing its international development path. Additionally, it will fulfill its economic, social, and environmental responsibilities in host countries, contributing to global energy transition and sustainable development.
