Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the closing ceremony of the Sixth Meeting of the China-France Business Council together with French President Emmanuel Macron and delivered a speech titled "Building on Past Achievements to Jointly Usher in a New Era in China-France Cooperation" in Paris, France, May 6, 2024.

Zou Lei, Chairman of China Datang, attended the sixth meeting of the China-France Business Council upon invitation, and addressed a green economy and low-carbon transformation roundtable as a representative of Chinese entrepreneurs.

During the meeting, which was jointly hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce and France’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, entrepreneurs from both countries had riveting discussions on innovation and industrial cooperation, green economy and low-carbon transformation, as well as emerging technologies and sustainable development.

At the roundtable on green economy and low-carbon transformation, Zou emphasized that clean energy development and green and low-carbon transformation of the economy and society is universally believed to be an effective solution to climate change and energy crisis and an important driving force for the recovery and growth of the world economy.

Thanks to its efforts to accelerate the construction of a new type of power system, China has established the world's largest clean power supply system and emerged as a leading force for and an important contributor to global energy transformation and response to climate change, Zou noted.

As a major energy enterprise in China, China Datang has taken the lead in formulating and releasing an action plan for endeavors to contribute to China's goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060, Zou said, adding that the plan outlines China Datang's timeline, roadmap and innovative practices for achieving its dual-carbon goals.

Looking ahead, China Datang aims to further sharpen its innovation capabilities and drive the development of emerging industries while playing an active role in international energy cooperation and supporting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, he said.
